Last of the summer sweets

The look for fall: bombshell!

As Labor Day weekend approaches, the fall beauty buzz is spinning up to a fever pitch. Get ready to say "buh-bye" to the au naturel beach babe--the hot look for fall is pure bombshell.

For inspiration, we'll be looking to the screen goddesses of the 1940s and 1950s--think Rita Hayworth's sensual curls, Marilyn's sultry eyes, and Audrey Hepburn's flawless crimson pout.

Even though the thermometer tells us it's still very much summertime, this hot fall look is already rocking the red carpet on celebrities from Jessica Alba to Isla Fisher to Mischa Barton.

So if you're ready to make a big impression this fall, just keep three little words in mind: Va. Va. Voom!

Fall trend alert: cap toe shoes

Just got a memo from your toes, ladies.

They don't quite know how to break it to you, but, em, after two solid seasons, they're getting tired of peeping.

Yes, as summer whimsy gives way to fall sophistication, the peep-toe shoe is taking a back seat to one of fall's hottest trends, the cap toe.

Classic and sophisticated (think Jackie O and Marilyn), the cap toe adds a touch of flair to an otherwise homgenous landscape, while still keeping everything demurely covered. And that can be very sexy. Like this sweet little pump from Oh Deer, which brightens up a classic black-and-white houndstooth with a pop of yellow (still a hot color, by the way). Wear them with jeans or with a conservative black pencil skirt--then just let the compliments roll on in.

Oh, and here's the best part: you can finally take a break from pedicures for a bit. (It's OK: we won't tell...)

Gunn-ing for a fashion fix?

First the bad news: Looks like we'll all have to wait until December for Season 4 of Bravo's Project Runway.

Now the good news: Everyone's favorite PR personality, Tim Gunn, will be launching a Bravo series of his own, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, on September 6 (10pm ET). Each episode will feature Tim using his superhuman style powers—and those of a few friends—to help hapless fashion victims go from frumpy to fabulous. Kind of a cross between What Not to Wear and Queer Eye for the Straight Girl, backed by the host's impeccable credentials as Chair of Fashion Design at New York's Parsons New School for Design.

Oh, and don't worry—Tim will also be back on hand to help the next batch of Project Runway designers "make it work."

(Note: If you can't wait until September for your Tim fix, check out his new book, Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste and Style.)
