Elle picks 2007's best dressed

As we get ready to wrap up the year, let's take a look back at the ladies whose looks turned heads (in a good way), and who better than Elle magazine to crown the best-dressed of 2007? Without further ado, here are some highlights from their top 25 list:

Cate Blanchett: She's rocked roles from Elizabeth I to Katherine Hepburn to Bob Dylan—and there's more drama where that came from. In 2007 the statuesque Blanchett made an impression wherever she went, including the Rome Film Festival, where she wowed onlookers in Armani PrivĂ©.

Jennifer Connelly: Occasional—and well-publicized—transgressions aside, Ms. Connelly scored enough "fashion do's" to become the face of Balenciaga's Spring 2008 campaign. In the months to come we can expect to see her rocking many more looks from her favorite design house, like this asymmetrical floral creation at the Met's Costume Institute gala.

Carrie Underwood: She's come a long way from the country-girl corkscrew curls and the aw-shucks casual look. As this American Idol alum made the transition from overnight sensation to established superstar, her wardrobe has followed suit to include attention-grabbing looks like this
Naeem Khan gown on the Movies Rock red carpet.
