Gwen Stefani gets all dolled up

Gwen Stefani's always been something of an overachiever, but this September, she's all set to outdo even herself, releasing not one, but five new fragrances.

Bundled under the name Harajuku Lovers, each fragrance comes packaged in a doll-shaped bottle, which Stefani designed based on herself and her four real-life backup singers:

  • Love, a sensuous floral with top notes of bergamot, pink pomelo, peach and bamboo leaf mist
  • Li'l Angel, a fruity blend of berries and pineapple
  • Music, a delicate floral with accents of clementine and pear
  • Baby, a powdery musk with freesia top notes
  • G, a bright floral with notes of mandarin, coconut, and apple
Look for this "fab five" collection to hit department store counters this fall.

Estee Lauder walks on the dark side

What comes to mind when you think of Esteée Lauder fragrances? Yeah, same here: Gwyneth Paltrow clad in pastel linen on a bicycle with a basket full of delicate flowers. Light, floral, girly, with nary a whiff of dark notes to be found.

Well, this season, the House of Lauder's fragrance line is getting a bit of a shakeup. Come this summer, the new scent Sensuous will be spicing things up with a deep, woodsy, amber aroma.

"Estée Lauder is heavily penetrated in the floral category," says president John Dempsey. "A new entry in woods allows us to expand our portfolio and reach out to a new customer. Woods are a growing category in North America and an important opportunity in Europe."

Look for Sensuous at your favorite Estée Lauder counter in July.

According to Women's Wear Daily, Bouquet has "top notes of dew drops, Sicilian bergamot and black current leaves," while Flower Princess offers "top notes of lush green ivy, shimmering tangerine and dewy water lily."
