DVF stands up for women

The 2008 International Women's Day is on March 8, and an icon of women's fashion is marking the occasion by helping a nonprofit group prove that "Women Can."

Fashion legend Diane von Furstenberg is joining forces with Vital Voices, a nongovernmental organization that trains and empowers emerging women leaders around the world. This week, the designer will donate 10 percent of profits from her freestanding stores as well as from dvf.com to support Vital Voices' "Women Can" campaign.

"I believe in supporting women," DVF told Women's Wear Daily. "I believe all women are strong but sometimes they don't have the opportunity or the environment to let it out. They only need encouragement, and so Vital Voices and other businesses and institutions are getting their strength."

Find out how you can show your support at vitalvoices.org.
